Explainer Video Services for Complex Products

Animated explainers for products, platforms and processes that take
too long to describe and lose people halfway through.

Superpixel writes, designs and animates explainer videos end to end — script, storyboard, illustration, voiceover and sound handled by one team — so a platform that needs ten minutes of demo can be understood in ninety seconds.

Where an Explainer Earns Its Place

Nobody reads a feature list twice. When a platform, a workflow or a service takes ten minutes of talking to describe, most of your audience never reaches the part that matters — and the few who do still turn up to the sales call unsure what they are buying. An animated explainer forces the decision the other way round: commit to one idea, show it, get out. Ninety seconds is not a constraint we work around; it is the discipline that makes the video worth watching.

Once it exists, an explainer stops behaving like a campaign asset and starts behaving like infrastructure — the header on your site, the opening slide of a pitch, the paid ad, the first thing a new customer meets during setup. Superpixel builds the whole piece in house: writing, illustration, animation, voice and sound, with sign-off gates placed before the expensive stages rather than after them. The studio has worked on animation and product video since 2015 for brands including Mastercard, TikTok, BytePlus and Hilton, from four offices — Singapore, Vancouver, Melbourne and Jakarta — with briefing, review and delivery handled remotely as standard.

  • The message is agreed at script stage, before anyone draws a frame
  • One video that carries a homepage, an ad, a pitch deck and an onboarding flow
  • Studios in Singapore, Vancouver, Melbourne and Jakarta — briefed, reviewed and delivered remotely

What We Offer in Explainer Videos

Explainers get briefed for four fairly different jobs, and each one wants a different structure. Tell us which
outcome you are chasing and we shape the script, the visual style and the length around it.

FAQ

Questions we often get

There is no rate card, because two videos of identical length can involve very different amounts of work. The heaviest factor is how much has to be drawn from nothing: a piece built on custom illustrated scenes and characters sits well above one assembled from interface motion and graphic elements. Runtime and scene count come next, then the delivery date — a compressed schedule costs more to staff — then the number of language cuts and aspect ratios in the final handover. Writing and boarding also shift the figure, depending on whether they begin from a blank page or from material you already have. Give us the product and your deadline and we will scope a range against it.

Reckon on four to six weeks from an approved script. The order runs script, storyboard, style frames to fix the visual direction, animation, then voice, sound and delivery. You approve at each of those gates deliberately — the early stages are where direction should change, and the later ones are where it should already be settled. What usually moves a deadline is the speed of approvals coming back, not the speed of the animation.

Both routes are common. Some clients hand over a product deck and leave the writing to us; others bring a draft that we restructure for animation, which normally means cutting it back and finding the visual beat behind each line. Either way we stay involved in the words, because a script written to be read and a script written to be watched are not the same document. Nothing gets designed until you have signed off the copy.

Thirty to ninety seconds suits most briefs — long enough to explain something real, short enough that viewers reach the end. Longer runtimes make sense for onboarding and training, where the audience already wants the detail. Delivery covers the widescreen master for your site and YouTube plus vertical and square reframes for social and paid placements, and we can add burned-in captions for feeds that autoplay on mute.

Yes on both counts. Your colours, typefaces and illustration language set the visual system, and where an interface appears we can animate the real screens or a simplified reading of them. For software and financial products that accuracy counts for more than polish — an audience that recognises the interface believes the explanation. Share brand guidelines, screenshots and product assets and we design against what already exists.

That describes most of our work. Superpixel operates from Singapore, Vancouver, Melbourne and Jakarta, and explainer projects are briefed, reviewed and delivered remotely as standard. Sign-off is written and staged rather than conversational — script, then storyboard, then style frames, then animation — so every round has a specific thing in front of it and a clear point at which that stage is closed.
